On the Sunday the 30th of October it was Astrid's turn to get out and have some fun with a Halloween party hosted by Scent Dogs Australia. Astrid dressed up as a shark for the costume contest which she later tried out in the pool (followed by a more appropriate swimming vest). She played a few games including chasing everyone while they played fetch, trying very hard to get me to drop my egg in the egg & spoon race so she could eat it, and took 3rd place in musical mats. She even managed to get 2 apples in the apple bobbing contest! She was awarded Best Trick for her being blown over trick, even if she was a little sleepy by that point and took a little longer to flop over then normal! |
Astrid & Arn were lucky enough to head to another party on the 1st of November with a Melbourne Cup Day celebration (also held by the lovely ladies at Scent Dogs Australia). The day started off with a quick trip to the Sunbury dog show so that we could catch up with a few people and Astrid got to meet her cousin Slinky and auntie Squiggle, who are very similar to her. Once we'd finished up there we head over to Kepala to join the party. Arn & Astrid dressed very smartly in their bow-ties for the event. We arrived just in time to join in for musical mats, and then it was time for a swim. Astrid was much more confident in the pool this time and swam really nicely. Arn wasn't going to go for a full swim but he unfortunately fell in the pool trying to get a toy out and had to be rescued from the deep end and put into a swimming vest! |
Arn and I took out 1st place for the egg & spoon race while Astrid pulled her handler along in her usual fashion. The puppy races were much less successful for Arn with Happy Dances increasing his race times quite a bit, Astrid came in 2nd place after a slow start in the first heat and a tied first place in the second heat. After a 2nd round in the pool we dressed up for fashions on the field and took the sash for Best Dressed Team! |
Our last game for the day was the Best Trick contest. Arn did a stand, he really needed some more time to nap before we started and really wasn't feeling it so a somersalt was out of the question! Or any sort of activity that required thinking for that matter. Astrid showed off her blown over trick again for her new friends to see. |
