The Hoomans laptop has been having issues with the website editor since we moved house mid last year so unfortunately proper news updates have been, well, nonexistent. So here is a delightful photo of Astrid doing Astrid things to compensate.
I have managed to quickly add in a page for our upcoming litter plans today, and will hopefully manage to get the editor to cooperate in small doses so I can continue to slowly update things. A couple of months ago we were lucky enough to have a photo shoot with Alice from Alice Bayly Pet Photography. Alice did a fantastic job at getting some lovely profile shots of the dogs and was extremely patient when they did the typical Lappie thing of not cooperating! A few of the photos are displayed above and I cannot thank Alice enough for the lovely photos she captured. Definitely a memorable day.
If anyone is interested in getting photos of their own pets done then Alice can be contacted either on her website or on Facebook. https://www.alicebayly.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AliceBaylyPetPhotography/ On the 11th of June Astrid, Arn and I ventured down to KCC park for the Finnish Lapphund Club of Victoria's Open Show. Arn ended up taking Best Intermediate in Show! I'm definitely proud of my little man for his achievement!
Astrid was a different story and had a great time flopping over for a belly rub, making sure she moved every time the judge came near her because it was training time and someone was in her personal space, and galloping along instead of walking normally. She did succeed at making a number of people ringside laugh with her performance though which was her main reason for being there!
Astrid & Arn's birthday celebrations began with a trip to the beach after breakfast. Arn had to be coaxed into the water to begin with but he was going in by himself and happily running along the edge of the water before our trip was over! We headed to a nearby cafe afterwards for morning tea. After a quick nap it was time for the puppies to recieve their gifts. The crinkle ball and the rubber ring were the obvious favourites of the day. After far too many games of fetch and zoomies it was time to bring the treat toys out. Arn is still quite convinced that if he bashes one with his paw and then barks at it that food will fall out! We then ventured into town wearing our birthday badges to watch some live music. Astrid was convinced that the bands were there just for her! They got heaps of cuddles amd were rewarded with a roast lamb dinner for mostly behaving while we were out. After another nap it was time for 2nd dinner which consisted of turkey, beef, and cheese balls and chilled egg shots. Party hats and a hot jam donut (Astrid's favourite cake type ever) finished up the evening!
I also had the joy of standing in as a handler at the last second for the Breeder's Team property class where I handled Taija in Armahani's A team for her last run in the ring before her retirement. She was absolutely lovely to handle (and sucked me in to giving her way too many treats). The team was awarded Best Breeders Team and Taija's owner Cherelle sent us home with the trophy as thanks for taking her in. Astrid completed her first Nosework Practical class on the 23rd of October. She did very well for her first try, but she definitely needs her attention span to develop a bit more! I'm very proud of my little monkey's performance throughout the day.
Arn has made a fantastic start at obedience with a promotion into Class 2 after only a couple of weeks! He even managed to focus for almost the whole hour of class time which was even more impressive for the little man. He was still falling asleep on his feet by the end of class but we managed to get a photo in before his regularly scheduled nap time.
